Four steps, no typing
Scan the ID
Put the card on the scanner, or take a photo with the phone. The passport’s machine-readable lines are read right on the device.
Check what was read
The form fills itself in. Anything the system is unsure of is marked “Please check”, so staff know where to look.
Pick a room
Choose from the rooms that are free. Set the rate and the number of guests, and take an advance if you want one.
Done
Print the registration card and hand over the key. A returning guest is recognised next time.

Privacy built in
Your guests’ IDs stay with you
Hotels have to keep guest records, and they have to keep them safely. RestroCompass is built around the rules for Aadhaar.
- Aadhaar is never sent to cloud AI. It is always read on your own PC or phone.
- Only the masked number is stored, as UIDAI requires. On ID copies the Aadhaar number can be covered; staff check each copy before it is kept.
- ID copies stay at your hotel, on your reception PC or on paper, never on our servers.
- Opening the guest register in the app is recorded, with who opened it and when.
Questions hotel owners ask
Does it work without internet?
Yes. The reception PC keeps working: sign-in, rooms, ID scanning, check-in, checkout, payments and receipts. When the internet is back, everything syncs by itself. If two desks booked the same room while offline, the manager is shown the clash to sort out. Nothing is overwritten.
Is Aadhaar data safe?
Aadhaar is read on your own computer or phone and is never sent to cloud AI. Only the masked number (XXXX XXXX 1234) is stored, as UIDAI requires. The scanned image is deleted once the details are read. If you keep ID copies, they stay at your hotel.
What hardware do I need?
A Windows PC at reception, a flatbed or multifunction scanner that works with Windows, and a printer for registration cards and invoices. Owners and housekeeping use Android phones.
Is the AI scanning extra?
Reading IDs on the device, including passports, is included in every plan. Cloud AI reading with Google Gemini comes with the Standard, Pro and Group plans. It uses your hotel’s own Google key, and Google charges a few paise per card.
Are the invoices GST-ready?
Yes. CGST and SGST are worked out at the right rate for each room and charge, with the HSN/SAC codes on the invoice. You can bill a company by its GSTIN, which is checked as you type it. Print the invoice or keep it as a PDF.
